The Fagerhult Group visits Whitecroft Lighting to review the successful implementation of the Agile Project Management process

We were pleased to welcome our colleagues from the Fagerhult Group, who travelled from Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands and the UK to participate in a half-day workshop reviewing the successful implementation of Scrum – our Agile Project Management process.

The visit had started with introductory presentations explaining the agile management system, followed by demonstrations by the Quotations, Lighting Design, and New Product Design teams to showcase the process in action.

As an agile project management function, Scrum is based around the idea of a number of repeated bursts of uninterrupted work known as sprints. It utilises daily Scrum meetings led by the Scrum Master, who aims to define a clear plan of the work to be done, review and resolve any problems and deploy the team to deliver the project efficiently.

Whitecroft adopted the Scrum management process in 2015 and from day one it has been very successful across the business. Over this time, we have seen a 25% increase in on time performance, a significant reduction in the number of priority changes and a better understanding of the causes of delays.

This informative workshop not only gave us the opportunity to present a successful adaptation of the Scrum framework, but also provided a forum for discussion, encouraging the sharing of knowledge and experience between our partners.

One of our latest projects – City of Glasgow College has been shortlisted for architectural awards

City of Glasgow College’s stunning new City campus has been shortlisted for prestigious RIAS and RIBA Awards 2017 which are presented for best current Scottish architecture.

This new campus has been designed to offer students an array of learning opportunities within more than 500 learning spaces.

Whitecroft Lighting supplied a range of luminaires, including Quest track mounted spotlights, Echo LED highway luminaires, Esprit downlighters and Broadsword linear LEDs, to complement the architectural spaces of this inspiring and modern building.

The RIAS Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 14th June 2017. We will keep our fingers crossed!

Whitecroft’s Help for Heroes fundraising success – £15,000 and counting!

With a recent £2,000 cheque presentation to Help for Heroes charity we have now raised a total of £15,000 for this great cause. This has involved Whitecroft’s family fun day, Christmas card campaigns, baking competitions and several other fundraising activities.

Help for Heroes has been our chosen charity since 2011 and with the last year’s visit to Phoenix House Recovery Centre in Catterick, we are impressed to see how our donations contribute towards supporting Veterans and their families. Having some of the Heroes working here at Whitecroft, we are even more encouraged to continue with our fundraising efforts and support in the future.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everybody who has donated over the years and we look forward to this year’s events!
