Successful education projects start with early collaboration and a shared vision. Bringing construction partners together from the outset helps teams make informed decisions, coordinate solutions and agree on a consistent approach to delivery. It also supports careful phasing around the academic calendar, minimising disruption, reducing programme risk and keeping complex projects on track.
With these priorities in mind, Whitecroft Lighting welcomed BAM Construction, its regional teams, MEP partners, architects and consultants to a dedicated DfE CF25 Education Day on 7 October 2026. Featuring guest contributions from Monodraught and Eaton, the event explored how complementary building technologies can align to support standardised specifications and meet the evolving requirements of the Department for Education’s CF25 framework.

Collaborative Workshops and Practical Solutions
The programme focused on current opportunities in the education sector. Attendees took part in a guided factory tour highlighting sustainable UK manufacturing and Whitecroft’s commitment to quality, followed by interactive, multidisciplinary workshops.
Sessions covered lighting design, smart building technologies, Geopak and environmental performance. By sharing expertise, manufacturers and contractors considered how to simplify specification decisions, reduce installation complexity and give customers greater confidence in the performance and delivery of future school projects.

Coordinating Hybrid Ventilation and Lighting Design
A key focus was the spatial and operational relationship between Whitecroft’s lighting systems and Monodraught’s Hybrid Ventilation with Heat Recovery solutions (MVHR). The session highlighted the value of manufacturers sharing knowledge early in the design process to understand how each system operates and how layout or operational choices in one area impact the other.
By assessing ceiling architecture collectively, balancing airflow paths, luminaire positions, acoustics and sensor placement, the teams discussed how coordinated planning eliminates ceiling clutter and prevents costly on-site clashes. For contractors and end users, this joined-up approach simplifies installation while delivering balanced visual comfort and healthy indoor air quality for pupils and staff.

Safety, Resilience and Control
The day also included discussions on emergency lighting strategies and site-wide resilience, examining how Whitecroft’s luminaires operate alongside central battery systems such as those presented by Eaton. During the session, Eaton outlined how scalable systems like DualGuard-S can manage an entire site, while DualSmart can divide power into dedicated fire zones. Reviewing these complementary technologies highlighted how automated backup maintains safe escape routes, while automated testing and monitoring can reduce maintenance, simplify compliance and give estates teams confidence that critical systems are ready when needed.

Future-ready learning environments depend on open dialogue throughout the project lifecycle. By engaging early and discussing how different building systems interact, the supply chain can help customers create classrooms that are easier to specify, safer to operate and more comfortable to use. The result is more consistent performance, simpler delivery and long-term value for schools.
