Leading the Shift to Circularity: Whitecroft and His Majesty The King’s Waste Initiative

Posted on November 7 2025

His Majesty The King’s Waste Initiative brings together organisations from across the value chain to embed circular economy principles into everyday practice, encouraging reuse to become the first thought rather than an afterthought.

Supporting National Change

Whitecroft Lighting has been invited to become a National Taskforce member and business ambassador for the initiative, recognised by the work Whitecroft and 18 Degrees are delivering to reduce waste and embed circularity within the built environment.

The National Taskforce is made up of organisations that endorse the initiative and play an active role in supporting its national rollout. Through collaboration, shared learning, and practical action, Whitecroft will help drive behavioural change and support the transition from linear to circular systems.

Why Whitecroft Is Involved

Whitecroft’s involvement reflects our ever-growing commitment to environmental responsibility and ethical business practices. From lighting components and materials to complete fittings, many items traditionally considered waste still hold significant value.

By adhering to the Re-Source pledge, Whitecroft is further committing to embedding circularity across its operations. This includes prioritising reuse, planning for circular outcomes, partnering with specialist organisations, and sharing learning across the industry. This approach aligns with Whitecroft’s wider mission to deliver circular lighting solutions that positively impact communities and the environment.

Under the Re-Source pledge, Whitecroft commits to:

  • Commit – Embracing circular practices and supporting reuse
  • Plan – Developing a clear action plan with measurable goals
  • Partner – Working with external specialists and engaging internal stakeholders
  • Act – Implementing reuse-focused practices within day-to-day operations
  • Share – Promoting progress to inspire wider industry change

Turning Commitment into Action

Through this work, Whitecroft will help demonstrate how circular principles can be embedded into everyday operations in a way that delivers long-term value and significantly reduces waste.

Looking Ahead

As His Majesty The King’s Circularity Initiative launches nationally in February 2026, Whitecroft will continue to play an active role in promoting collaboration, sharing best practice, and helping to normalise reuse across the industry.

By placing sustainability and ethical thinking at the forefront of the business, Whitecroft remains committed to driving positive change and supporting a more circular, resource-efficient future for the built environment.
