The 170,000sq ft, seven storey centre was built to create an environmentally sustainable office which would be more suited to modern working styles and business needs.

Severn Trent Water’s £60m operations centre sets a new industry standard with one of the lowest carbon footprints for any UK office building. The overriding aim was to create the most comfortable and effective working environment, but with the additional emphasis on achieving environmental and economic objectives.

The lighting design in the predominant office areas was determined by the exposed soffits which required an acoustic reverberation solution. Continuous Foil has been designed to meet this requirement along with reducing the lighting energy consumed. From an aesthetic perspective, Foil was chosen for its ease of integration of other services creating an uncluttered ceiling from alarms and controls. An outstanding feature of the development was the uniquely designed reception area where Life L fitted seamlessly into the architectural appeal.
